The way in which Manchester United finally turned on the style at Old Trafford, against Chelsea of all teams, has seen many praise Jose Mourinho’s decision to leave star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the bench.
Clearly, the superstar Swede has been hugely important to United’s cause this season, with his goals in the Premier League the main reason why they are in with even an outside chance of finishing in the top four. Not only that, but his brace in the EFL Cup final pulled the Red Devils over the line in a game they really should have lost.
Still, Marcus Rashford’s excellent outing against the Blues last weekend showed the perceived over-reliance on Ibrahimovic may not be strictly true. That’s not to say Rashford could lead Mourinho’s attack across the whole campaign as well, though certainly provides another option.
Which lends itself to an interesting question we put to our Manchester United-supporting readers last week. There had been reports suggesting he would only extend his stay at the Theatre of Dreams if United won the Europa League, effectively having one of the biggest clubs in the world dancing to his tune (if reports are to be believed of course.)
With the excitement surrounding Rashford’s performance in mind, it’s time take a look at the results of that query.
A rather large 70% of fans believe United shouldn’t bow to such demands. Still, perhaps more surprisingly, 30% voted towards the fact the Red Devils should indeed dance to his tune.
