According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have agreed a deal with Roma for star centre-back Antonio Rudiger – who lifted the Confederations Cup title with the German national team earlier this month.
Personal terms are yet to be agreed but the 24-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in Los Angeles this week, suggesting the contract negotiations accompanying the potential £34million move won’t be too much of an issue.

Having played in two top flights already throughout his career, featured in both full-back positions and the heart of defence, and represented world champions Germany 17 times, Rudiger seemingly ticks all the boxes for the Blues – well-suited to their three-man defence and offering an ideal balance between youth and experience.
And it appears the vast majority of Chelsea fans agree with that analysis. Indeed, we asked them earlier this week whether Rudiger is the right signing for their club and the response was a resounding yes – with 91% voting in the German’s favour.
