Should Romelu Lukaku leave Goodison Park this summer, Ronald Koeman will face a mighty challenge to bring in an attacker who can lead the line as effectively as Everton’s top scorer this season.
Perhaps that’s an impossible task, considering the Belgium international’s scoring record is already top-class if not encroaching upon world-class. But nonetheless, with current understudies thin on the ground Koeman will have to find a signing who can at least go some way to filling Lukaku’s awesome void.
Some candidates are already in the frame, not least including Max Kruse – or so claim SportBild – after netting 15 times in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen this season and Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, as alleged by The Express.
Both very different kinds of striker yet both unquestionably talented, so we asked Everton fans earlier this week who they’d rather Koeman signed this summer. And according to our poll, the majority of Toffees supporters – 61% – would prefer to see a swoop for the German international.
