According to recent reports from The Sun, Newcastle are in the race to sign Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone in a cut-price £2million transfer deal.

That's because of a release clause in the one-time England international's contract, meaning he can leave the Tigers on the cheap following their exit from the Premier League at the end of last season.

No doubt, £2million for a player with Huddlestone's experience is an absolute steal in the modern transfer market, but the former Spurs midfielder has hardly covered himself in glory since moving to the KCOM Stadium.

And despite the 30-year-old's vast experience in the top flight, he barely made an impact as the Tigers plummeted into the Championship, seeing as many red cards as goals - one apiece - and failing to provide a single assist throughout 2016/17.

With that in mind, we asked Newcastle fans earlier this week whether they'd back a summer swoop for Huddlestone or if their club should steer clear - and according to our poll, 61% think the Magpies should do their midfielder shopping elsewhere.
