An incredibly impressive debut from Kyle Walker-Peters, stepping in the shoes of a £50million player in the form of Kyle Walker, was arguably the biggest story from Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday – barring a shocking sending off for Jonjo Shelvey.
But the youngster was by no means Tottenham’s only impressive performer at St. James’ Park. Midfielder Dele Alli popped up with the goal to break the deadlock, while defender Ben Davies grabbed an unlikely second by storming into the penalty area at the right time.
Both goals were assisted, with varying degrees of intention, by attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, who was undoubtedly one of the most lethal creative threats in the Premier League last weekend – only Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Granit Xhaka also grabbed two assists as well.
Accordingly, we asked Spurs fans earlier this week to vote for their man of the match and although Kyle Walker-Peters picked up a decent chunk of the vote, it was Eriksen who eventually came out on top of our poll with a clear majority.
