England's World Cup qualifying campaign won't live long in the memory, consisting almost exclusively of laboured and unspectacular performances against some of Europe's most modest sides, but the important thing is that the Three Lions are through to the tournament proper in Russia next summer.

That being said, Gareth Southgate's squad remains exceptionally contentious, perhaps the most contentious we've ever seen within the realms of the national team. Very few places appear decided and with three quarters of the domestic season still to go, much can change before England take on the rest of the world in summer 2018.

6 foot 4 defender Chris Smalling, for example, has failed to hold down a regular starting berth at Manchester United this season and could quickly find himself overtaken in the pecking order by the time the tournament comes around.

So United fans, do you think Smalling has done enough to justify a place in Southgate's plans? Let us know who would and wouldn't make your England World Cup squad by giving each of our suggestions below a thumbs up or a thumbs down...
