The Premier League is on hold for the next few weeks as attentions turn to a batch of international qualifiers for the World Cup in Russia next summer.
England will feel confident of grabbing the two points needed against Slovenia and Lithuania to qualify from Group F in first place.
But considering the modest quality of the opposition, and the fact the Three Lions have all-but-mathematically qualified anyway, thoughts will be more focused on what these fixtures can tell Gareth Southgate about his side ahead of the tournament in summer 2018.
And currently, there’s one particularly obvious point of contention – the goalkeeping department.
Although Joe Hart has held down the No.1 berth for the best part of the last seven years, a mixture of high competition for the role, some costly mistakes at Euro 2016 and the West Ham loanee’s turbulent few seasons at club level have created doubts over whether he should be Southgate’s first choice in Russia.
There are certainly some exciting alternatives to choose from in Jack Butland, Jordan Pickford, Tom Heaton and Fraser Forster.
And considering there are no Red Devils ‘keepers involved in this discussion, Manchester United fans can offer an unbiased perspective on who England’s No.1 should be. Let us know by voting below…
