HYS: Should Arsenal pay Ozil £300k per week?

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is demanding a staggering £300k per week contract, which would make him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.

With his current terms due to expire in summer 2018, Ozil’s future at the Emirates Stadium has been a recurring subject of discussion throughout the season, especially when coupled with his many underwhelming performances.

The debate of whether Ozil or Arsene Wenger are truly to blame rumbles on, but there’s no question the German World Cup winner’s struggled to produce to the levels expected throughout 2016/17.

Which makes his demands for £300k per week all the more intriguing; many would argue the 84-cap international is yet to justify such a large wage – or for that matter, the club-record transfer fee that brought him to north London from Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, Ozil’s talent remains indisputable and if there are significant changes at the club this summer, Arsenal could well end up getting the best out of him next season. But it’s claimed Arsenal will look to sell in the coming transfer window if they can’t reach an agreement with the attacking midfielder.

So, Gunners fans, how should the club handle the 28-year-old’s situation? Should they buckle to his wage demands, accept they have to sell or let Ozil’s current contract wind down? Let us know by voting below…
