When Chelsea signed Marcos Alonso last summer, the deal certainly raised some eyebrows. Premier League fans only really knew about the Spaniard from his spells at Bolton and Sunderland, none of which suggested he was a top flight title winner in the making.

Nonetheless, the 26-year-old has been pivotal in Chelsea's march to the English crown as their resident left wing-back, making 30 Premier League appearances and even chipping in with six goals and three assists.

According to Mundo Deportivo, that has generated interest from La Liga giants Barcelona, the club Alonso's father represented over 100 times during the 1980s.

Based on current form, you'll struggle to find a better left-sided player in Europe at the moment. But in terms of quality, the jury's still out.

Whilst Alonso has fitted perfectly into Antonio Conte's system and consistently delivered offensively, he still doesn't seem like an absolute world-beater - and if the Italian is to push his side up to the level required to successfully defend the Premier League title, it could be argued an upgrade is in order.

At the same time, having signed him for £24million last summer, Chelsea could probably squeeze a tidy profit out of Barcelona. So, Blues fans, should your club cash in on Alonso? Let us know by voting below...
