HYS: Should Sunderland sign Ross McCormack?

According to reports from The Sunderland Echo, Sunderland are in ongoing talks with Aston Villa over a potential deal for misfit striker Ross McCormack.

On paper, the 13-cap Scotland international is one of the most proven goalscorers in the Championship, netting 119 times in the second tier throughout his spells with Cardiff City, Leeds United, Fulham and the Villans.

But the 5 foot 9 forward is now 30 years of age and its claimed his bumper wages have made a deal between the former Premier League clubs more complicated.

Acquiring ageing players on big salaries is part of the reason Sunderland have ended up in the Championship following several years of decline and there are also questions over McCormack’s attitude, having been essentially ousted from Villa Park last season after missing training and sent on loan to Nottingham Forest.

So, Sunderland fans, should your club sign McCormack or is he a disaster waiting to happen? Let us know if you’d back a deal for the Villa man by voting below…
