John Terry divides opinion in many aspects, but you’ll find very few arguing against him being the greatest English centre-back of his generation. Rio Ferdinand may be able to put forward a case, but in terms of being a genuine defender and inspiring the players around him, the 36-year-old has been unrivalled for much of the past 15 – 20 years.
The announcement that he’s leaving Chelsea this summer when his contract is made all the more interesting by this. Although his advancing years have robbed him of what pace he did have in his pomp, there may be a few miles left in the tank from which Premier League clubs could benefit, and West Ham seems a somewhat logical fit.
The Irons have been far from solid defensively this term and may improve with a genuine organiser at the back, while Terry himself could remain based in the London area.
But, should it happen? Have your say below…
