Over the past few seasons, the transfer market hasn't been overly kind to Liverpool, to say the very least. Much was made about the transfer committee former manager Brendan Rodgers worked under and, while Jurgen Klopp brought in some added quality over the course of the summer, not every signing has wholly convinced.

There remain some obvious frailties within the Reds' squad, ones that need to be sufficiently addressed if Klopp really is going to lead a title charge at Anfield, though the capture of Sadio Mane has obviously been a rather large highlight. Despite some initial doubts as to his expense, the Senegalese has provided the likes of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho with a wonderfully direct outlet and, had he not departed for the AFCON over the New Year, who knows how close Liverpool would be to Chelsea now?

So, taking Mane out of the equation, who has been Liverpool's best signing so far? Joel Matip has largely had a transformative presence on their defence, though even the Cameroonian cannot do it all himself. Elsewhere, Georginio Wijnaldum has improved of late, while Ragnar Klavan and Loris Karius have provided useful squad options in problem positions.

With that being said then, who is Liverpool's signing of the season, outside of Sadio Mane?
