Chelsea’s six-goal thriller with Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-final of the FA Cup on Saturday showed exactly why they’ve been the Premier League’s most dominant force this season; more than a question of quality or the tactical advantages of their 3-4-3 system, it was a sheer desire to win that got the Blues over the finishing line.

The west Londoners proved as much when they won their first corner of the match in the 75th minute, twenty after Spurs had swung momentum back in their favour through Dele Alli’s equaliser. Disorganised marking saw Eden Hazard peel into space on the edge of the box to put Chelsea in the lead - Nemanja Matic then sealed the victory five minutes later with a rasping shot from long range.

A victory, then, which hinted towards the strength of Chelsea's collective mentality more than anything else.
