Liverpool's Champions League campaign got off to a solid start last night, scoring two away goals to take into the second leg against Hoffenheim.

The Reds' good work going forward was once again undone by some lacklustre defending at the back, a simple route-one ball somehow finding its way to Mark Uth, who applied a clinical and composed finish to make sure the Bundesliga outfit got something out of the game.

Jurgen Klopp will be disappointed his side missed out on the clean sheet, which would have been a huge boost for the return leg at Anfield. But Hoffenheim didn't lose a single home game last season, so a win  at the Rhein Neckar Arena is certainly a decent result.

Liverpool opened the scoring through Trent Alexander-Arnold, the young defender unexpectedly placing a curling free kick into the bottom corner, and then doubled their lead when substitute James Milner - who added real impetus to the match - curled an effort that span off Havard Nordtveit's chest and into the net.

Along the way, Sadio Mane proved a constant threat to the Hoffenheim defence and Simon Mignolet made a crucial penalty save. So, Reds fans, who deserves the Man of the Match award? Let us know by voting below...
