HYS: Who was Tottenham’s Man of the Match vs Real Madrid?

Tottenham’s performance at the Bernabeu last night won’t be forgotten quickly. The Lilywhites produced a dogged and astute display to leave the home of the reigning European champions with a priceless point, virtually guaranteeing them progression to the knockout rounds.

Harry Kane played a pivotal role in opening the scoring against Los Blancos, his flick-on from Serge Aurier’s cross ricocheting off Raphael Varane and past Kelor Navas, although that lead was soon cancelled out as the Ivorian rashly brought down Toni Kroos in the box.

Nonetheless, there were further impressive individual performances to speak of; Harry Winks provided calmness, composure and quality in the engine room, Jan Vertonghen proved a marauding presence at left wing-back and Hugo Lloris made a string of important saves – one that firmly belongs in the category of world-class.
