Revealed: Majority of West Ham fans don’t want Oxford to go out on loan

Earlier this week, Slaven Bilic strongly hinted youngster Reece Oxford will go out on loan again next season during his pre-match press conference for West Ham’s final Premier League fixture of the campaign.

The 18-year-old is rated as one of English football’s most promising youngsters but he hardly got a look-in at Reading after moving to the Madjeski Stadium on loan in January, making just two starts in the Championship.

Bilic believes the England U20 needs to be playing weekly football to turn his enormous potential into genuine ability, but his Reading spell has proved there’s no guarantee of that if he’s sent out on loan again in 2017/18.

With that in mind, we asked West Ham fans earlier this week whether Oxford should be loaned out or kept on the fringes of the first team squad next season, allowing Bilic to use him in cup competitions and from the bench.

And according to our poll, the majority of Irons supporters – 63% – believe he should stay at the London Stadium next term.
