Everton may have a job to hold on to star striker Romelu Lukaku this summer, with the Belgian forward being linked with a move to an host of Europe’s top clubs, including former side Chelsea who may look to the 23-year-old as a replacement for Diego Costa should he leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Lukaku is currently the Premier League’s top scorer with 24 goals and is on target to win his first Golden Boot with closest rival Harry Kane trailing the striker by four goals. The former West Brom loanee recently became the Toffee’s all time Premier League top scorer – overtaking club legend Duncan Ferguson – and has 86 goals in all competitions during his four year tenure at Goodison Park.
The Toffee’s have had a brilliant 2017 under boss Ronald Koeman but remain likely to yet again miss out on Champion’s League football for the 11th season running.
Proving himself as one of Europe’s elite strikers, Lukaku may look for pastures new in order to showcase himself on Europe’s biggest stage, but with Everton improving by the week under Koeman, it could only be a matter of time before Everton find themselves back in the Champions League for the first time in over a decade.
