Everton are now unbeaten in their last six Premier League games after picking up their second victory on the bounce at Southampton, and Frank Lampard will be absolutely delighted with how far his team have come from last season.

The Toffees are now 11th in the league table, matching Liverpool and Brentford on points following their success at St Mary's. And, considering they are still without Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Nathan Patterson picking up an injury during international duty, they are in great form.

Despite having less possession (46%), hitting the target with fewer shots (five to six) and completing fewer accurate passes (77% v 82%), Everton took their chances exactly when they needed with key players really stepping up in the moments it mattered the most.

In the first half, the Merseysiders had much more of the ball and many more chances to break the stalemate, with six corners and five shots at goal, however, it wasn't until the second half that the action began.

Southampton's Joe Aribo opened up the scoring in front of the home support with a 49th-minute strike, which quickly woke Everton, and a response was found quickly when Conor Coady equalised in the 52nd minute.

This was followed up just two minutes later by Dwight McNeil, who bagged his first goal for his new club in the 54th minute, which ultimately proved to be the winner.

One player who put on an outstanding performance both defensively and on the attack was former Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Coady, who didn't just contribute the first goal for Everton over his 90-minute performance.

The 29-year-old centre-back - who was hailed a "leader" by journalist Ross Gregory - also won 100% of his duels, made four clearances and tallied up a pass accuracy of 86%, not to mention scoring the all-important equaliser early in the second half - proving that he really was Lampard's hero against Saints.

With that being said, Everton have a reported £12m option to buy on Coady, and if he continues to contribute at the level he has for the team so far, it would be an absolute steal for the club.
