Everton host Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday hoping to finally kick-start the second-half of their Premier League season.

Frank Lampard's side suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to Southampton last time out, and the job doesn't get any easier with the visit of a wounded City, who will no doubt be dying to get back to form after their own slip-up.

The Toffees boss may look to ring the changes for the game at Goodison Park, and one man who should surely be phased out of the starting line-up, both on Saturday and going forward, is Seamus Coleman.

The veteran full-back has struggled to cope with having to play week-in and week-out for a struggling Toffees team at the age of 33, and has committed nine errors that have directly led to goals.

He's played 18 times in the Premier League, and only once in those appearances has he not completed the full 90 minutes.

City's pace and movement, especially out wide with the likes of Raheem Sterling and co cause Coleman a whole bunch of problems, and Lampard risks seeing his right-back get brutally exposed on Saturday.

Coleman's lack of pace and ability to get back in transition could prove to be a major weakness for Pep Guardiola's side to exploit, and make it a costly decision to start him.

But, with Nathan Patterson now in the ranks and offering the Republic of Ireland international some much-needed competition, it may finally be time for the former Rangers man to be given his chance.

The £70k-a-week earning Irishman could do with being taken out of the firing line for the visit of the champions at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

And at 33, his time may be up in a more long-term sense too.
