Everton have had their fair share of injury problems this season, and as a result have found themselves struggling to pick up points leaving them 16th in the Premier League, and now the side could be set for their latest major injury blow.

What's the word?

Premier League injury expert, Ben Dinnery, has revealed his opinion on Yerry Mina's latest injury blow after Frank Lampard confirmed to Sky Sports that the Everton defender would be sidelined for eight to ten weeks.

Dinnery told Football Insider;

"Given that timeline, we’re looking at a high grade-two.

"It’s probably rectus femoris, the big muscle at the anterior aspect of that thigh. We are talking about significant fibre damage. Ideally, they will treat it conservatively. But you can’t rule out surgery at this time."

He then added: "That ten-week turnaround, it could even be May if we get to a worst-case scenario.

"Then you start to question if it is even worth bringing him back for the end of the season. Possibly, that could be season-ending. There are no guarantees."

Frank will be gutted

The new manager has already suffered a number of losses to his squad due to injury in his three games in charge of the side with Ben Godfrey, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Fabian Delph and Demarai Gray all side-lined with injuries since his arrival just over two weeks ago, and the latest injury to Mina will surely leave Lampard gutted, as he attempts to steer Everton into safety in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old's impact on the side speaks for itself when you look at how the Toffees results differ with and without him in the side, picking up points in six of the ten games he has played so far, Everton have won four out of their six league victories recorded this season when the Colombia international has started in the team.

The idea that the centre back could be out for the rest of the season will be a huge blow to Everton and fans will be hoping that Lampard can work miracles on the backline to soften the blow of Mina's absence, with a glimmer of hope coming last weekend when the side recorded their first clean sheet in ten games against Leeds United, as well as Michael Keane and Seamus Coleman finding the back of the net in the 3-0 win at Goodison Park.

AND in other news, Lampard must finally axe Everton's £3.6m-rated “massive issue”, he’s not good enough...
