Everton: Moshiri already eyeing up Lampard successor

Everton have only recently appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager at Goodison Park to take over from Rafa Benitez following a terrible season from the Toffees that has landed them in a difficult relegation battle, and now Farhad Moshiri could be eyeing up his replacement for Lampard already.

What’s the word?

According to French news outlet RMC Sport, Everton have shown interest in French manager Bruno Genesio, as the highly anticipated manager is attracting interest following his impressive stint at Stade Rennais from a number of clubs including Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur.

Everton have not played in Europe since the 2017/18 Europa League. But who did they last face in the competition?

Supporters will be livid

If there is anything that Everton is in desperate need of right now it’s stability and sacking the current Toffees boss at the end of the season would surely leave the supporters absolutely livid, especially if Lampard secures Premier League football next term, saving the side from relegation in the remaining fixtures despite a difficult run of games ahead.

If Moshiri was to appoint Genesio at the end of the season it would be the seventh manager in six years to take the reigns at Goodison Park and would no doubt cause huge disruption behind the scenes as Lampard has just put into place his backroom staff with Ashley Cole joining the club recently from Chelsea to work with the defensive line.

The 55-year-old Rennes manager has been making impressive progress over his tenure so far taking the Ligue One side to a sixth place finish last season, and guiding his squad to the round of 16 in the Europa Conference League this season. He is also currently third in the French top-flight, just one point behind giants Marseille in second, with the opportunity to qualify for Champions League football in sight.

Should Everton sack Lampard this summer?

Yes

No

No

Although it doesn’t make any sense at this point of the season to sack Lampard or even consider a new manager currently when the fate of the club is nowhere near sealed for next season, Moshiri is well known for making reckless, cut-throat decisions something we have seen with the axing of many a manager over his ownership so far.

Thus, it would be likely no surprise to Everton fans no matter the outcome this term.
