Marcus Bent reckons that Wilfried Zaha would be a huge signing for Everton and one that would excite the Goodison Park faithful.

The Toffees have been chasing the Crystal Palace star for several seasons but haven't been able to convince him to make the switch to Merseyside.

That almost happened two years ago, but Zaha ended up staying at Selhurst Park, where he's continued to prove himself as a level above the Eagles – scoring a career-high 11 Premier League goals last season.

And according to Goal, Everton are once again interested in signing the attacker for around £40m.

Zaha has since reiterated his desire to leave Crystal Palace and is ready to quit the club having spent his whole career in south London, besides a brief stint with Manchester United.

Everton are yet to dip into the transfer market since Rafa Benitez was appointed last month, but Bent exclusively told Football FanCast that signing the Ivorian would be a good place to start:

"Course it would [excite the fans]. There's a question mark on his age, but he's a big name, humble guy and it would be a big move for him and a massive buy for Everton.

"So, it would be amazing if they were to get him."
