Denzel Dumfries can take Everton to the next level and has "got everything", claims former Toffees defender Michael Ball.

The 25-year-old was superb at this year's Euros, proving a constant threat in a wing-back position for the Netherlands.

He netted twice in games against Ukraine and Austria to help his nation make it into the knockout round, though he was unable to prevent their elimination at the hands of the Czech Republic.

Dumfries continues to be heavily linked with a move to Everton. According to Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer (via Sport Witness), the player's agent Mino Raiola is currently talking to the Merseyside club over a transfer, though a bid has yet to be officially launched.

For Ball, this is the kind of signing that could help the Toffees to make that next step.

"Everton have really sort of struggled to find a replacement for Seamus [Coleman]," the retired full-back told FFC in an exclusive interview.

"We need someone to take us to that next level again and Dumfries to me seems like he's got everything."

While Coleman has been a great servant to the club, making 350 appearances in total, he is 33 this year, so Everton probably really could do with bringing in a long-term replacement now.
