Marcus Bent believes that Everton are looking to cash-in on midfielder Andre Gomes this summer.
The Spaniard appeared 28 times in the Premier League last season but hasn’t been able to find his best form since suffering a sickening broken leg against Tottenham back in November 2019, just before Carlo Ancelotti arrived.
That injury came just months after Gomes made his loan deal permanent at Goodison Park, and whilst he returned to become a regular under the Italian this season, he never seemed to be in his best XI.
Gomes made 17 starts in the league, but just two of those came in Everton’s final 10 matches which suggests he could be set for a summer move away from Merseyside.
The former Barcelona midfielder, who has 81 appearances in total for the Toffees, has still got more than three years remaining on the contract he penned in 2019 and could perhaps be waiting to decide his future based on who the next manager is going to be.
But Bent exclusively told Football FanCast that he’s expecting Gomes to be moved on this window:
“I think Andre Gomes, they’re looking to move him on. If they get the right money to get him off the wage bill, I think they’re looking to move him on.”
