Dean Windass believes that if Carlo Ancelotti wants James Rodriguez at Real Madrid, then the Colombian would be on the next flight out to the Spanish capital.

Ancelotti spent last summer convincing Rodriguez to swap Madrid for Everton following his struggles at the club for the best part of six seasons, although two of those were spent at Bayern Munich.

Rodriguez did exactly that, becoming one of the most high-profile free transfers ever, and made a blistering start to his Toffees career by scoring three times and assisting as many in his opening five Premier League matches as Everton topped the table.

However, several different muscle injuries restrcited the midfielder to only 13 league appearances after Christmas.

But that hasn't put off Ancelotti or Madrid, who're keen on bringing Rodriguez back to the Santiago Bernabeu less than 12 months after he made the switch to the Premier League.

And Windass told Football FanCast that the 29-year-old wouldn't think twice about returning to Spain:

"Well, he's the best player they've got – it was a great signing from Ancelotti. And if you were going to sign for anybody, you would sign for Real Madrid.

"We don't know this, but if he says, 'I'm going to Real Madrid, I want you to come with me', he will be on the next flight out there.

"When you have got that affinity with a manager, they you're going to trust each other."
