The next few months in Frank Lampard’s managerial career will arguably be his most important, as the start he has endured at Everton hasn’t exactly given the supporters much to savour.
The Merseyside club have made a decent start to their summer transfer business, already securing the signature of Burnley defender James Tarkowski when his contract expires at the end of the month to improve Lampard’s woeful backline.
The activity probably won’t stop there either, with Everton linked with Chelsea trio Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher and Levi Colwill, although it’s a young Championship prospect who could be next on Lampard’s wish list.
According to Hull Live, the Toffees have been linked with Hull City gem Keane Lewis-Potter, and they face a battle with Brentford in order to bring him to Goodison Park this summer.
A £15m bid may be enough to seal the deal for the talented winger, who scored 13 goals and grabbed four assists last season, and he may be looking to follow former Hull winger Jarrod Bowen in making a move to the Premier League shortly.
Of course, there are no guarantees that Lewis-Potter will emulate Bowen, but his career has gotten off to an exciting start and a move to Everton could be great for the Hull winger.
The Tigers’ youth coach Craig Fagan lauded him as “similar to how Eden Hazard plays”, and this is high praise indeed for the 21-year-old with lofty ambitions, given that the Belgian is a multiple trophy winner who cost Real Madrid €150m (£129.17m) in 2019.
Lewis-Potter could be a huge upgrade on Alex Iwobi, with the Everton winger only scoring two league goals in what was an underwhelming 2021/22 season, to say the least.
Lampard could do with bringing some added creativity to a stagnating attack, and the Hull youngster appears to fit the bill perfectly. It could be an exciting few weeks ahead for the Goodison Park faithful.
