The Carabao Cup might not be something to shout about for Everton but it’s a tournament that if they take seriously, they could win.

The Toffees knocked out Championship opposition in Round Two and they are met with another second-tier side on Tuesday evening.

Rafa Benitez’s team will take on QPR who have enjoyed a vibrant start to the season and sit just outside of the play-offs.

Everton have plenty of injuries to contend with heading into the match so the team selection will be interested as they attempt to prevent further fitness issues from occurring.

With that in mind, how could they line up against QPR? Here’s what we’re predicting...

We’re tipping Benitez to make as many as five changes to his starting XI this evening, with a change in shape also occurring.

It’s likely that the Toffees will revert to a three-man backline as they did against Huddersfield which sees Jarrad Branthwaite come into the side at the expense of Yerry Mina.

Lucas Digne keeps his place on the left-hand side due to a lack of options while Jonjoe Kenny is afforded his second outing of the campaign with Seamus Coleman absent.

There are two alterations in the middle of the park where Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure are given the night off in favour of Andre Gomes and Jean-Phillipe Gbamin.

The latter missed out against Aston Villa as a precaution but it’s hopeful that he’ll return on Tuesday evening.

Demarai Gray has had a flying start to the campaign with three goals in five league outings but he is rested as Alex Iwobi starts.

The final change is up top where Salomon Rondon is axed. That means 20-year-old Ellis Simms comes into the starting line up.

He has never made a senior appearance for Everton but was on the bench at Villa Park last weekend and was in good form in the EFL last season.

Simms spent a period of time on loan at Blackpool in League One where he found the net on ten occasions.

The side is a blend of youth and experience but that’s exactly what the Carabao Cup seems to be about now.
