Everton still have plenty of deadwood hiding amongst Carlo Ancelotti's resurgent squad and this January, they should be looking to offload all that they can in some sort of firesale.

One name, in particular, stands out from the rest - Fabian Delph.

The 31-year-old, who won two Premier League titles with Manchester City prior to his £10m arrival during the summer of 2019, is clearly not in the Italian's plans anymore.

He has featured just five times this season, playing the bulk of his minutes in the Carabao Cup. In fact, the midfielder hasn't even made the matchday squad in five of their nine Premier League fixtures, per Transfermarkt.

It's just not financially viable to keep him festering away on the bench, or most of the time, in the stands, especially given he's raking in a cool £120k-per-week, as per Football Insider, which makes him one of the Toffees' highest earners.

In total, Delph as burned a £18.5m hole in Farhad Moshiri's pockets and that's only going to continue to rise until he's sold. The 20-time England international is under contract at Goodison Park until 2022.

He didn't really make much of an impact during his maiden season either, averaging only 1.6 tackles, 1.3 dribbles and 0.4 key passes per game, via WhoScored.

The former Villa man also spent large parts of the campaign on the treatment table with recurring hamstring injuries the crux of the problem, as stated by Vital.

Ahead of the winter transfer window, the Merseyside outfit have been linked to a number of midfield additions, including Real Madrid's Isco and former Liverpool flop turned Lazio sensation Luis Alberto.

You'd imagine any signing in the engine room only spells further trouble for Delph, so he ought to get out whilst he can. The longer he rots away on the bench, the less likely he is to continue to forge a career in the Premier League.
