Former communications director and Everton insider Alan Myers has delivered a huge transfer claim on the potential signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Gibbs-White this summer.
Myers responded to a Toffees supporter on Twitter with his view on the potential signing:
“I can see Morgan Gibbs White coming but let’s see.”
Everton supporters will surely be delighted that there is a chance that the club will sign Gibbs-White ahead of next season, as the player is one of the most sought-after youngsters right now.
Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Everton are all named as clubs who are interested in the player, however, the Toffees may have an advantage over their competitors to make the signing.
Everton sporting director Kevin Thelwell was in a similar role at Wolves when the 22-year-old made his breakthrough, so Frank Lampard and the powers at Goodison Park will likely be hoping that their newly-appointed recruiter will be able to use his background with the player to get a deal done.
Gibbs-White has been going from strength to strength over the last few years, and last season played a huge part in Sheffield United’s Championship campaign and play-off challenge.
The versatile midfielder scored 11 goals, delivered nine assists and created a whopping 16 big chances, making 1.6 key passes, winning 4.9 duels and taking 2.4 shots on average per game over 35 appearances, proving that he is a huge attacking threat in the team.
Former Sheffield United striker David McGoldrick claimed that Gibbs-White “has the world at his feet” in a post-match interview last season after a victory over Cardiff City when asked about the player’s impact in the team:
“Yeah he’s got the world at his feet. You know, great kid, great player. He’s got all the ability in the world”
Lampard is in desperate need for players who can come into the team and make an instant impact on Everton’s Premier League campaign to ensure they don’t find themselves in another relegation scrap, with midfield a key area that needs depth after Fabian Delph’s contract expiration and Donny van de Beek’s return to Manchester United.
With that being said, Moshiri must do everything he can to beat competitors to secure the signature of Gibbs-White this summer, as he could become a really valuable player for Lampard next season.
