Everton have been linked the entire summer with a move for Armando Broja, and now a new update has emerged from a reliable source that has put the deal into question.

What's the latest?

According to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor, the signing of Chelsea striker Broja will be "difficult" to complete this summer.

Taylor told GIVEMESPORT:

“Broja is probably their top target. But it’s such a difficult deal to do because, at the moment, Tuchel is very much adamant he’s going nowhere.”

Moshiri must act fast

With just ten days remaining before the transfer window closes until 2023, Kevin Thelwell must act fast in making solid offers for a striker as the desperation for a centre-forward has never been more urgent at Goodison Park.

Over their three Premier League fixtures so far, Everton remain winless with only one point tallied up on the Premier League table and Frank Lampard will be wanting to improve his team and their league position to avoid another relegation battle this season.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin injured and Richarlison making a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, the Toffees are left with only Salomon Rondon to occupy the striker role, so Broja could be the perfect signing to make an instant impact at Goodison Park.

Indeed, Lampard is no stranger to the Albania international who delivered nine goals and one assist over his season-long loan with Southampton after being given his first taste of consistent first-team football, and the Everton boss could use his experience with the player to continue his development on Merseyside.

The former Chelsea boss was full of praise for the talented striker when Everton came up against Saints last season, saying:

"He’s fast, strong, has a real eye for goal and he’s a very, very good young player so I’m very aware of his strengths."

Broja, who was given his Premier League debut at Chelsea by Lampard, is not only a player who is hungry for goals, but a player who offers many similarities to their injured star striker at Everton, so could be a like-for-like replacement that can fit seamlessly into the team.

The £30m talent uses his 6 foot 2 stature to dominate opponents and win the ball high taking advantage of defenders in and around the box to convert goal-scoring opportunities, with the youngster ranking in the top 15% of his positional peers in the top five European leagues for aerial duels won, whilst Calvert-Lewin features in the top 5%.

With that being said, the signing of Broja is clearly a much-needed addition for the Toffees. However, Thelwell should not be putting all his eggs in one basket if the deal will be difficult to complete over the remaining days of the window and should be working to identify other targets too.
