Everton have been heavily linked with a move for Armando Broja this summer, and now a new update has emerged from a reliable source that confirms the club's continued pursuit of the player.

What's the latest?

According to iNews Northern football correspondent Mark Douglas, the talks for Everton to sign Broja are still ongoing.

Douglas also reported in his piece for the publication that the attention is firmly focused on completing the deal for the Chelsea youngster after agreeing on a deal for Paris Saint-Germain Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Missing piece of the puzzle

The desperation for a striker is growing every day at Goodison Park as the Toffees continue their search to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin whilst he spends his time sidelined for the next six weeks.

The signing of Broja could be a rare Farhad Moshiri masterclass if he can get the deal done to join new signings Conor Coady, James Tarkowski, Amadou Onana, Ruben Vinagre and Dwight McNeil and would be the final missing piece of the puzzle in terms of strengthening key areas of the team.

Last Saturday, Frank Lampard was left with no choice but to deploy right winger Anthony Gordon in the centre-forward position following Calvert-Lewin's injury, Salomon Rondon's suspension and Richarlison's departure.

As a result, snapping up the Albanian striker has never been more urgent for the Toffees, and considering Lampard is very familiar with the player there is no reason why he can't seamlessly deploy Broja into the team using his experience with the player to get the very best out of him in the coming weeks.

The £30m-valued ace has been the recipient of high praise over his short career so far since Lampard gave him his Premier League debut with Chelsea back in 2020, with the former Blues boss hailing Broja previously:

"He’s a very nice, very good lad and a very talented young boy.

"He’s fast, strong, has a real eye for goal and he’s a very, very good young player so I’m very aware of his strengths in a Southampton team playing very well."

Broja is no stranger to a season-long loan deal away from his parent club at Stamford Bridge, spending last season on loan with Southampton scoring nine goals and delivering one assist.

Now the Everton manager can capitalise on Broja's ability to come into a new team and make an instant impact on the goal tally if the powers at Goodison Park can get the deal done in the final weeks of the transfer window. Considering his gifted ability in the final third, it may be the final piece that's missing from Lampard's jigsaw.
