Everton have been linked with a move for Emmanuel Dennis this summer, and now a reliable source has revealed an update on the club's progress in making the signing of the player.

What's the latest?

According to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, Everton remain interested in signing Watford striker Dennis before the transfer window closes.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jacobs revealed: “Everton are also looking at Dennis as well. Neither club has made a formal bid yet. Watford are hoping for £25m with Newcastle valuing Dennis a bit lower.”

Big Richarlison upgrade

There is no doubt that Frank Lampard will be keen to fill the Richarlison-shaped hole in the Everton team this summer following his move to Tottenham Hotspur, and Dennis could be the perfect signing to solve the manager's problem.

Despite being relegated with Watford this season, Dennis has proven that he has what it takes to play in the Premier League next season and could be given the opportunity to return to the top flight via Merseyside if Farhad Moshiri can seal a deal.

Over 33 league appearances last season, the 24-year-old forward scored 10 goals, delivered six assists and created seven big chances, as well as making an average of one key pass, 1.5 tackles and winning 6.2 duels per game - proving that he is a fantastic attacking threat that would be a great addition to any team who needs a goal-scorer.

When you compare Dennis to Richarlison over last season, the Watford goal machine would actually appear be a big upgrade on the Brazilian winger, as he had a much better output in terms of all-round play compared to his positional peer.

Both forwards scored the same amount of goals in the league (10) but Dennis served up one more assist, had a better shot-on-target accuracy (44.3%), a better pass completion rate (68.1%) and more shot-creating actions (91) than Richarlison.

With that being said, the signing of Dennis would certainly be a great piece of business for Moshiri and Lampard can even land an improvement on his forward line of last season which would put Everton in a great position to compete in the Premier League next season.
