Everton: Fabrizio Romano reveals Armando Broja update

Everton have been heavily linked with a move for Armando Broja this summer, and now a new update has emerged from a reliable source that could be a huge problem for the Toffees in their pursuit of the player.

What’s the latest?

According to Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, West Ham United have submitted a bid for Everton transfer target Broja.

Romano tweeted: “Chelsea manager Tuchel: ‘Armando Broja’s our player first of all, and as of now we have no interest in selling him. He’s here to make an impression,’ Tuchel added. West Ham have submitted a €35m (£30m) bid for Broja, but it’s up to Chelsea now.”

Supporters will be livid

There is no doubt that Romano’s update will leave Everton supporters livid as Broja has been linked with a move to Goodison Park on numerous occasions and could be the answer to filling the Richarlison-shaped hole in the team.

It won’t be just the supporters that will be frustrated with the news of the Hammers approach, Frank Lampard is a huge admirer and has reportedly identified the player as the number one target to sign this summer.

Firstly, where did Everton finish in the Premier League?

The Everton boss is no stranger to the young Chelsea striker as he played a part in giving Broja his platform in the Premier League, giving him his debut back in 2020, and since then the Albania international has gone from strength to strength.

Last season, the 20-year-old joined Southampton on a season-long loan and continued to develop his talents under the watchful eye of Ralf Hasenhuttl, finishing the season as the second highest-scoring player in the squad.

Over 32 Premier League appearances, Broja scored six goals and created two big chances, as well as taking an average of 1.4 shots, making one successful dribble and winning five duels per game. Furthermore, the Saints striker ranked third for the most aerial duels won in the opposition half throughout the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

Would you like to see Broja at Everton?

With that being said, Lampard will surely be keen for Farhad Moshiri to now step in to table a bid that can beat West Ham to the signing of Broja, as Everton are desperate to bring in a player that can make up for the goal contributions that will be lost from last season’s top-scorer Richarlison.
