Everton have enjoyed a solid start to their Premier League season but the injuries and lack of goal contributions in the final third have finally taken their toll on the team.

Indeed, the Toffees have improved massively when it comes to their defensive performances, but lack the same consistency and quality in the forward line which has ultimately cost them valuable points in the top flight and has also cost them progression into the next round of the Carabao Cup.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled with numerous injuries over the last 12 months and the exit of Richarlison in the summer has certainly contributed to the lack of goal-scoring opportunities converted in the team, despite signing Neal Maupay and Dwight McNeil.

Only Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest have scored fewer goals than the Merseysiders this season with both teams currently in the relegation zone, something Everton will be desperate to avoid after a difficult battle at the bottom of the table over the last campaign.

Lampard will know all too well the slippery slope that his team could be on if they don't make significant improvements to their attacking threat in the second half of the season and now with Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffering another hamstring injury it has put even more pressure on the powers at Goodison Park to evaluate their transfer stance in January.

One player who has been linked with a move to Everton recently is Japan international and Eintracht Frankfurt's Daichi Kamada, a player who could be season-changing for the Toffees if he can continue his goal-scoring form on Merseyside should a deal be done in the new year.

Over 12 Bundesliga appearances, Kamada has scored seven goals this term, four more than Everton's top scorers - Anthony Gordon and Demarai Gray.

He has also delivered three assists, which would place him second in Everton's ranks this term, only behind Alex Iwobi. Already an exciting proposition, he backs those impressive attacking numbers up with eye-catching defensive stats too, registering 1.9 tackles a game.

Not only that, but the talented £17m-rated ace - who was dubbed "incredible" by journalist Josh Bunting - is the joint sixth highest scoring player in the Bundesliga, ahead of a certain Sadio Mane. He also ranks third for assists via set plays, proving that he is clearly a huge threat in front of goal and could be a hugely valuable asset to Lampard.

With that being said, it would be a great piece of business in January if the Toffees can secure Kamada's signature and judging by his immense qualities in the final third, he could make the difference the team needs in order to ensure they have a comfortable second half of the Premier League season.
