Everton: Lampard can land Dele upgrade in Kudus

Everton are struggling in the Premier League this season yet again and Frank Lampard will surely be spending the World Cup break searching for solutions to improve his team’s performances on the pitch.

The Toffees are now just one point above the relegation zone and are at risk of being sucked into another difficult relegation scrap if things don’t start to change soon at Goodison Park.

Lampard will be hopeful that the hierarchy will back him in the January transfer window as only Wolverhampton Wanderers have scored fewer goals than Everton in the Premier League this season, so snapping up a high-quality attacker will likely be the biggest priority for the manager.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has suffered with numerous injury problems over the last 12 months which has been a hindrance to the quality of the attacking threat, and when you combine that with losing Richarlison in the summer, it is no wonder the Toffees are struggling to tally up a healthy number of goals.

As a result, the upcoming transfer window could be the answer to saving Everton’s season, especially if they can secure the services of one of their transfer targets as Mohammed Kudus has been linked with a move to the blue side of Merseyside.

The 22-year-old Ajax star has been a stand-out performer at Ajax and has become one of the hottest young prospects in Europe with the Toffees, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Leicester City all interested in signing the player.

Over 14 league fixtures this season, Kudus has scored five goals and completed 70% of his dribbles so far, as well as averaging 1.8 shots on goal and winning 2.6 duels per game from his position in the advanced midfield role.

Not only that, the young talent ranks in the top 1% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues for pass completion and dribbles completed, as well as ranking in the top 4% for touches, progressive passes and shots on goal, proving that he is one of the top players in Europe and could be a valuable asset to Lampard.

Dele Alli was sent on loan to Besiktas for the season after failing to impress the Everton boss and there is no doubt that Kudus would be a big upgrade on the former Tottenham Hotspur flop, replacing the former England international in attacking midfield.

1. Starting off, can you guess the career path of this former Everton star?

When you compare the two players over last season, Kudus outperformed Dele in a number of attributes, including goals scored (six v one), shots on target percentage (43.8% v 33.3%), shot-creating actions per 90 (3.87 v 1.90) and pass completion rate (90.2% v 75.6%).

With that being said, there is no doubt that Lampard and the powers at Goodison Park will be watching Kudus when he plays for Ghana in the World Cup, and if he continues to flourish in the tournament, Everton must go into the January transfer window with a move in mind.
