Everton have secured safety in the Premier League for next season after a difficult relegation battle and are already identifying players that can improve the squad next season with a new update emerging.

What's the latest?

According to French news outlet Jeunes Footeux, Everton have joined the race to sign Watford star Ismaila Sarr.

As per the report, the Merseyside club will compete with two other Premier League clubs for the player's signature, with Crystal Palace and Newcastle United also named as potential suitors.

The report further suggests that the recently relegated side will not try to retain Sarr's services at the club during their time in the Championship should an attractive offer come in for the player, with their expectation set at an estimated at €35m (£30m).

Lampard will love him

When it comes to improving the squad, it is fair to say there is room for improvement in every area of the squad for Everton when you consider they were almost relegated saving themselves only in the penultimate Premier League game of the season following a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.

With that being said, Farhad Moshiri must leave no room for error when it comes to identifying players that can make an instant impact in the side and provide a fresh perspective that will ensure the club does not suffer the same fate this season that could leave them in a vulnerable position once again.

Despite Sarr's injury problems this season, missing 12 games, he has been effective in offering an attacking output when he has been available for Watford, and Lampard will love him if he can stay consistent should the club secure the signing this summer.

According to SofaScore, the £71k-per-week ace who was hailed a "game winner" by teammate Ben Foster has scored five goals and contributed two assists, with five big chances created and making one key pass on average per game.

His pace is another attribute that has been widely praised with Senegal teammate Sadio Mane hailing him "rapid", another advantage that could be hugely beneficial in the Everton attacking threat causing chaos for opponent's defence next season.

With that in mind, it's hardly a surprise that his rampant style of play has drawn comparisons with current Everton wide man, Demarai Gray, by stats platform FB Ref.

Ultimately, Lampard and the powers at Goodison Park will need to work hard to make an attractive offer to the Senegalese winger this summer to ensure that they can push off the tough competition from other Premier League clubs.
