Everton have found themselves in a difficult position yet again in the Premier League as they are currently just one point off the relegation zone, and now a new update has emerged on the club's plans for the January transfer window.

According to Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas, Everton are planning to sign at least two new players when the transfer market reopens in the new year.
During a Q&A for the publication, Thomas revealed:
“All-in-all, the situation should be getting better as time goes on. My understanding is there is room to strengthen the attack without sales but this will still be a window in which the club has to be savvy.
“So it may be the club, which is looking at two attacking players ideally, seeks one permanent and one on loan.
“I think the attack can be bolstered without outgoings but outgoings will be a big part of the January window.”
It's great news for Lampard
There is no doubt that the potential of incoming new signings next month will be great news for Frank Lampard as he continues to try to navigate the Toffees out of trouble over the second half of the season.
Everton are currently 17th in the Premier League after a string of poor performances ahead of the World Cup break that saw the side lose three of their last five outings, and there will be a lot of improvements that need to be made upon their return to action after Christmas.
The signing of two attacking players would be warmly welcomed to freshen up the stale and creatively lacking goal threat that the team has displayed this season - with only Wolverhampton Wanderers scoring fewer league goals so far.
The Toffees have been linked to several attacking talents including Mohammed Kudus, Armando Broja and Ben Brereton Diaz, but whoever the powers at Goodison Park acquire the services of in the January transfer window must be able to have an instant and positive impact on the team.
With that being said, the business done in the coming weeks ahead could be season-defining for Everton as it could either help them to retain their Premier League status or commit them to relegation into the Championship which would be a devastating situation for the team, supporters and the club.
