Everton: Transfer insider reveals Lampard wants Ziyech

Everton haven’t officially completed a signing this summer so far but have been linked with a number of players and now a potential transfer target has been named by a reliable source.

What’s the latest?

According to journalist and transfer insider Dean Jones, Frank Lampard is interested in signing Hakim Ziyech this summer.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “The changes at Chelsea are likely to lead to Ziyech looking for a new club, and Everton are one side keeping an eye on the terms around any exit.

“Generally, Frank Lampard is being linked with all the homegrown players from Chelsea, but I’ve been told he’ll be interested in Ziyech too if the player is keen to stay in the Premier League.”

Dele Alli upgrade

Everton are in desperate need of improving their squad following their relegation scrap last season, and signing players that can not only add depth but quality to key positions in the team will be essential to having a better chance at avoiding a similar outcome next time out.

Dele Alli was brought into the club in January on deadline day as one of Lampard’s first signings, and to say it hasn’t gone well for the former Spurs star is an understatement, so Ziyech could be the perfect upgrade to replace the player in his position.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has so far made just 11 appearances for the Toffees, collecting more yellow cards (3) than goals and assists (0), averaging just 29.9 minutes on average per game and losing seven of the games he featured in – clearly proving that Lampard doesn’t trust him in the position.

Ziyech, on the other hand, has used his game-time much more effectively and was trusted this season by Thomas Tuchel to perform and provide important attacking attributes to his London-based team, scoring eight goals and delivering six assists in his 44 appearances across all competitions.

Should Everton sign Hakim Ziyech?

The £100k-per-week left-footed midfielder who was hailed “magical” by Frank Khalid created nine big chances, made an average of 1.3 key passes, took 2.3 shots and won 3.8 duels per game over his 23 Premier League appearances last term, further proving the qualities he could add to the Everton team next season.

With that being said, the signing of Ziyech would be a major upgrade on Alli and his invaluable experience in the attacking midfielder role would be worth its weight in gold to Everton in their pursuit to have a much better experience in the Premier League next season.
