Everton: Journalist drops Morgan Gibbs-White transfer update

Everton have been linked with a move for Morgan Gibbs-White and have also had a £25m bid rejected already, now an update has emerged from a reliable source on the player’s future.

What’s the latest?

According to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown, the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder could be set to stay at his current club.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT:

“Gibbs-White seems to be doing really well for Wolves in pre-season.”

“From what we hear, the noises coming from the club are that he’s going to have quite a big role to play for them this season.”

It’s bad news

Frank Lampard and the powers at Goodison Park have clearly identified Gibbs-White as a priority target after making an offer for the player, so it will be hugely disappointing to the Toffees to hear that the midfielder could be set to stay and fight for his place at The Molineux.

Gibbs-White has been attracting a lot of interest from Premier League clubs after his impressive season-long loan spell with Sheffield United last season and it was reported that newly-promoted Nottingham Forest were also interested in signing the young talent.

Over 35 appearances, the 22-year-old scored 11 goals, delivered nine assists and created a whopping 16 big chances, making 1.6 key passes and winning 4.9 duels on average per game, which led to the midfielder being named as Sheffield United’s Player of the Year.

Wolves have reportedly slapped a £30m price tag on their young asset, but it looks like he is now in Bruno Lage’s plans after a promising preseason, which will leave Lampard with a massive headache ahead of the return of the Premier League next month.

The Toffees have only made one signing so far with James Tarkowski joining the ranks at Goodison Park, but with Richarlison making the move away from Merseyside, there is still a desperate need to replace his goal contributions in the team after he was the top goal scorer in the side last season.

Firstly, where did Everton finish in the Premier League?

With that being said, if Everton do hold strong interest in Gibbs-White they will need to make Wolves an offer they couldn’t possibly refuse, but with ongoing financial concerns, it may be easier said than done.
