Everton: Rafa could solve big issue at Everton by signing Ramsay

Everton will be looking to solve a number of issues in their squad over the coming transfer windows, with a new era underway in that department after the departure of Marcel Brands.

Rafa Benitez currently has up to twelve players unavailable, following the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening, and will surely be looking to identify players in the winter transfer window who can offer some reliability, quality and depth to the squad.

One player who could be a great signing for the Toffees is Aberdeen defender, Calvin Ramsay, who has been previously linked with a move to the Merseyside club.

The 18 year old has been claimed to be “in the elite upper bracket” of his position by the chairman at Aberdeen FC, Dave Cormack, as The Daily Record bring an update on his future from the Dons chief.

“There are not many right back at his age like him, doing what he does.

“Look at the data and all the clubs look at the same (scouting) systems. He is in the elite upper bracket, right up there, for a young right-back in Europe.”

Ramsay has bagged eight assists for his team mates in his 17 appearances for the senior side this season, which is an impressive number for a right back, and it is perhaps no surprise that Everton and several other top flight clubs have a ‘close eye’ on the starlet, according to The Daily Record‘s report.

Benitez could resolve a big issue he is currently facing at Everton in his right back position, as after an alleged fall out with Lucas Digne on the other flank, the right side of the Spaniard’s defence is not looking too great either.

Seamus Coleman has of course been a wonderful servant for the club for so long, but the Irish cult hero is certainly reaching the twilight years of his career. He will be approaching 34 by the time next season starts, and having made mistakes leading to goals against both Liverpool and Crystal Palace recently, the Toffees cannot waste time in finding his long-term replacement.

At just 18 and already showing the creative prowess that Coleman did earlier in his career, Ramsay has the potential to be the next gem of a right-back to spend a decade bombing down the flank for the Blues, a Coleman 2.0 if you like.

Will Everton sell Digne?
