Everton can do no wrong at the moment, either on the pitch or off it.

The Toffees have enjoyed a superb few weeks, first getting transfer deals over the lines for the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan and James Rodriguez, and then sealing back-to-back Premier League victories over Tottenham and West Brom.

Now, Carlo Ancelotti's side are interested in luring Brentford left-back Rico Henry to Goodison Park in this summer transfer window.

The Sunday People (20/09 edition, page 55) (via Football League World) claim that Everton are one of a number of Premier League sides, including Brighton, Aston Villa and Leicester, intent on luring the 23-year-old away from the Bees.

Henry enjoyed an impressive campaign last season for Thomas Frank's side, playing 51 games across all competitions as Brentford just fell short of promotion to the Premier League.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith, who worked with Henry before, described him as "something special", and previously said: "If I were to liken him to anyone it would be a young Ashley Cole. He's got a good engine and pace, he can get up and down the pitch. He's got a great personality, which will hold him in good stead."

Whilst Lucas Digne has nailed down the starting left-back slot at Goodison Park, bringing in Henry to offer him more competition, particularly with no Leighton Baines around, could be key to ensuring the Frenchman stays at the top of his game.

It's a signing that makes a lot of sense for the Toffees.
