Everton boss Frank Lampard is yet to strengthen his squad this month despite the club's current woes, with the Merseysiders arguably in need of a fresh injection of quality in order to boost their bid for survival.

The relegation strugglers have been particularly dour in attack after scoring just 15 goals in 19 Premier League games to date, with only Wolverhampton Wanderers (12) having found the back of the net less frequently this term.

With an attacking recruit seemingly high on the agenda for the Toffees, one potential target could well have emerged in the form of Rennes starlet, Kamaldeen Sulemana, with journalist Fabrizio Romano revealing earlier this week that the club are eyeing a loan deal with an option to buy - with a fee of around £40m having been mooted.

The transfer guru has since provided more detail on that interest in the 20-year-old, with the respected source telling GIVEMESPORT that there has been contact regarding a possible swoop before the end of the window.

Romano stated: “It’s important to see what happens with the wingers because they’re speaking to Rennes about Kamaldeen Sulemana, a Ghanaian winger who wants to leave Rennes due to a lack of game time, so he wants an opportunity. Everton are following the situation.”

As stated above, the 5 foot 9 dynamo is seeking an escape route from the Ligue 1 side after starting just two league games so far this term, after previously scoring five goals and registering three assists during his debut campaign in France the year prior.

Despite that lack of action, the fleet-footed "sensation" - as described by journalist Yaw Ampofo Jr - is clearly a player of real quality, having even been notably compared to Brazilian icon Neymar in the past, with his former Nordsjaelland coach Flemming Pedersen stating:

"We are talking about a player with potential on a par with Neymar, and maybe even more than that, because he is even faster".

The promising youngster was also praised for his dynamic quality by ex-teammate Erik Sviatchenko, with the former Celtic defender stating:

“When he plays simple and knows when to play the ball, he is amazing. He is fast, strong and has an understanding of the game like few others. He’s on his way to something big, and it’s a pleasure to be tested against one of the great talents in Europe.”

That "enormous talent" - as described by youth expert Jacek Kulig - has also been evident as a result of the winger's statistical record of late, with Sulemana ranking in the top 2% in Europe among those in his position for dribbles completed.

Not simply an asset in an attacking sense, the Ghana international also offers the added bonus of being willing to put in a shift at the other end of the pitch, as he ranks in the top 1% for interceptions, as well as the top 4% for tackles made.

Having been "nothing short of a revelation" for his current side after his arrival from Denmark back in 2021, as per journalist Sam Tabuteau, the hope would be that Sulemana could make a similar impression at Goodison Park.
