Everton have been linked with signing Kamaldeen Sulemana recently and the winger could be a dream first signing for incoming manager Sean Dyche.

Journalist Ryan Taylor suggested last week that signing a wide player is a matter of priority for the Toffees before next week's deadline, with two additions out wide likely to be targeted now that Anthony Gordon is set to sign for Newcastle United.

He claims that Rennes winger Sulemana is of "strong interest" to the Merseyside outfit, despite a lack of appearances in Ligue 1 so far this campaign.

The 20-year-old has been limited to just two starts under Bruno Genesio at Roazhon Park but has one goal and two assists in all competitions this season, having also appeared four times in the Europa League.

The Ghana international boasts six goals and four assists in total for Rennes, having signed for the French club after catching the eye with FC Nodsjælland in Denmark, for whom he hit 14 goals and eight assists in just 43 appearances.

In an interview with The Coaches' Voice, Dyche discussed his preferred 4-4-2 that was so successful at Burnley, as he consistently overachieved with the Lancashire side during his time at Turf Moor.

In the video, he discusses the importance of wingers being defensively switched on and covering central midfielders when the opposition is in possession of the ball, and it is for this reason that Sulemena could be perfectly suited to the 51-year-old at Goodison Park this season.

According to FBref, the young winger scores in the top 10% of wingers across Europe's top leagues for tackles, interceptions and aerials won, which suggests that he is more than willing to help out at the back.

He can also be a huge threat going forward and can excel as a traditional winger, as he also scores in the top 15% for dribbles completed, progressive passes received, shots and assists per 90.

This is impressive for someone who is still just 20, so it is no surprise that football talent scout Jacek Kulig described him as an "enormous talent" in 2021 after a huge performance against PSG, with his stats from that game emphasising how impressive he can be at both ends of the pitch.

Dyche will need committed and hard-working players if he is going to keep the Toffees in the Premier League this season and Sulemana's defensive attributes and obvious potential suggest that he could be a dream first signing by Farhad Moshiri ahead of a new era at Goodison Park.
