Everton have been linked with Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga recently and the Englishman could prove to be a world-class addition to Frank Lampard's squad.
Reports have suggested that the Toffees could look to bring in the youngster on loan this summer, as Lampard looks to bolster his defensive options at Goodison Park.
The Spurs academy graduate, who was dubbed "really special" by Gary Neville, is capable of playing as both a centre-back and a right-back but has struggled for game time under Antonio Conte, partly due to injury problems last season.
As a more defensive-minded full-back, he arguably doesn't suit Conte's five-at-the-back wing-back system, but Everton could benefit from having him on Merseyside next season.
According to FbRef, Arsenal's Takehiro Tomiyasu is the second-most similar player to Tanganga in terms of play style and considering his impressive debut campaign with the Gunners, Everton would be foolish not to take a chance on him.
The Japan international helped transform Mikel Arteta's defence after joining from Bologna and was a big part of their push for Champions League football, with the Gunners looking noticeablyy more susceptible at the back when he was out injured.
His performances earned him the praise of teammate Ben White, who said:
"Tomi is amazing. He’s the best right-back I’ve ever played with. He’s always focused. It’s an honour to play next to him.
"Tomi does the simple things at a world-class level. He is very alert and he isn’t careless in games."
Tanganga scored extremely well in terms of clearances, aerial duels and tackles last season, showing that he too does the basics at a world-class level, something that Lampard needs after some less-than-impressive defensive performances last season.

Although reports are suggesting that it is only a loan, Everton could definitely look to bring him in permanently if he is successful, so this feels like a risk worth taking for the Toffees.
If he could replicate the form shown by Tomiyasu at Arsenal, then there is no reason why Tanganga can't be considered world-class in his own right at Goodison Park.
