Everton are preparing to battle with several Premier League clubs over this tricky winger…

What’s the word?

According to the Evening Standard, Watford are bracing themselves for a slew of bids for Ismaila Sarr.

With Crystal Palace expressing an interest, the Toffees are also considering the Senegal international as an option should Anthony Gordon’s proposed move to Chelsea materialise.

Reportedly available for just £25m, Sarr would represent a huge bargain given that he has already proven his ability to perform in this league. It would also add another Senegalese asset to the Toffees' squad, with Idrissa Gueye reportedly close to signing for Frank Lampard's team.

He could be Sadio Mane 2.0

With blistering pace and an unorthodox playing style, Sarr and Sadio Mane share many similarities, with the Watford gem dubbing his Senegal compatriot his “big brother”.

With the former Liverpool man having now left the English top flight for Bayern Munich, perhaps Everton could claim their own version of the speedster and leave their rivals wishing that they had been the team to sign the 'next Mane'.

Comparing their most recent campaigns in the Premier League, it is clear that both attackers favour goals over assists. Whilst Mane far outperformed the Watford star with 16 goals last season, compared to Sarr’s five, the former only managed four assists to the latter's two.

Lampard could benefit from having a goal-hungry and instinctive attacker like the 24-year-old, considering that none of his players have scored so far this season.

Sarr also boasted a dribble success rate of just under 50% in last season's Premier League, which suggests that he is well able to beat opponents when driving at them with the ball at his feet. Whilst a far cry from the 61% of Mane, it seems that all the foundations are in place for the Everton target to be his elder compatriot's natural successor.

Dubbed “young, hungry and electric” by journalist Rob Blanchette, perhaps Sarr can use these attributes to even surpass his 'brother' one day. It would be an almighty task, though, given Mane’s Liverpool haul of 120 goals and 49 assists in 269 games.

However, with 29 goals and 19 assists for the Hornets, the 24-year-old is well on his way to achieving something similar to this feat.

Sarr would be a huge coup for Everton, and these statistics further enhance the idea that one day he could grow to reach the level of his idol.

A powerful dribbler with an eye for goal, Sarr could be Lampard’s own Mane if he applies himself and takes his chance upon stepping up from Watford to enter Goodison Park, should he make the move to Merseyside.
