Everton seeking double swoop from Chelsea

Everton could be interested in a double swoop from Premier League giants…

What’s the word?

That’s according to Pete O’Rourke, who shared his thoughts on a potential move for Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley, the duo who earn a combined £169k-per-week.

Speaking to Football FanCast, he had the following to say about the two potential transfers from Chelsea:

“Obviously Frank Lampard will know all about both players, he’s worked with them at Chelsea. He will know what they can maybe bring to the table for Everton.

“Everton obviously have a few issues financially to deal with in this transfer window. So maybe looking at players that they can get on loan is the way that Frank Lampard has maybe been forced to enter this transfer market.”

They could transform Everton

With Lampard still yet to finalise his summer dealings with the Chelsea fixture looming over him, a double swoop from that exact club could completely change the side that will play on Saturday.

Especially given the absence of Dominic Calvert Lewin for a reported six weeks, a new striker has quickly become something of a priority. Someone who will happily take a back seat if their star man is fit but can challenge for the spot, all the same, is Batshuayi.

Should Everton sign both Michy Batshuayi and Ross Barkley?

Last season, he scored a respectable 14 goals whilst out on loan at Besiktas. In fact, this is more than any Everton player from last season, with the closest being the now departed Richarlison.

That would definitely be one coup for Lampard, but he is also yet to find a creative central midfielder to go beside Allan, Doucoure, or even the potentially incoming Idrissa Gana Gueye.

A fairy-tale return for Barkley, even on loan, could see both club and player benefit. Although he struggled for minutes last season for the Blues he still averaged a 7.05 SofaScore rating, scoring the winner in their final game of the season.

Dubbed a “special talent” by Roberto Martinez during his time as manager of the Toffees, perhaps a return could see him finally reach these levels touted.

Firstly, where did Everton finish in the Premier League?

As Lampard has overseen both of these players in the past, during his stint at Chelsea, they also have the potential to come in and hit the ground running at Goodison Park.

These additions could help completely transform Everton from relegation battlers into top-half finishers, transforming the side alongside the other new additions.

AND, in other news: Fabrizio Romano: £33.5m target “wants to join” Everton, just imagine him & Gueye.
