Everton are set to sign two new players on transfer deadline day as Frank Lampard starts his tenure at Goodison Park in perfect style.

What's the word?

This has been a busy day for the Toffees, confirming Lampard as their new boss and then working on deals to sign Donny van de Beek from Manchester United and Dele Alli from Spurs.

An announcement hasn't been made for the latter yet but it does look as though Dele is moving ever closer to a move to a Goodison Park switch.

That's according to Sky Sports reporter Vinny O'Connor who dropped the following update live on air from Finch Farm.

"What we can tell you now, Bill Kenwright has held talks in his London office with Daniel Levy. After long but cordial discussions an agreement was reached and now the final details are being completed."

Fans buzzing

This is a move that will leave Everton supporters over the moon, especially after their recent troubles on and off the pitch.

The Toffees have recorded just one win in their last 14 matches which led to the sacking of Rafa Benitez and mass protests from fans outside Goodison.

Yet, their fortunes off the pitch have changed rather dramatically for the better in the last 24 hours or so.

The signing of Dele is a particularly exciting one. Of course, his form has dropped off drastically in the last few campaigns, scoring just twice this term.

That said, he is still a spectacular talent, someone who has previously scored 67 goals and recorded 61 assists for Tottenham Hotspur.

A former PFA Young Player of the Year winner, it feels as though the England international needs a strong arm around his shoulder and in Lampard, someone who was key in the career of other English talents like Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham; it could be a match made in heaven.

The idea of him linking up with van de Beek is also a hugely exciting one.
