Everton must win the race to secure £15m-rated Joshua King

Everton’s summer spending this transfer window doesn’t appear to be over just yet and there’s one name they’re still in the hunt for…

What’s the word?

According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, the Toffees remain in the race to clinch AFC Bournemouth forward Joshua King but only if the price is right.

Should Everton sign Joshua King for £15m+?

Yes please!

Yes please!

No thanks!

No thanks!

Amid reports linking the 28-year-old with a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, The Athletic claimed that he’s available for between £15m and £20m.

Meanwhile, King has returned to training this week with the Cherries now competing in the Championship following relegation last term.

Versatile upgrade?

Carlo Ancelotti’s new-look side stunned Spurs on the opening day of the season with all three of his summer additions playing a starring role, James Rodriguez and Allan particularly impressing.

However, the options from the bench looked particularly weak with Bernard, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott providing backup to Richarlison and the Colombian playmaker.

If the Toffees truly want to contend for a place in Europe next season, then strength in depth is going to be vital, which is why Marcel Brands ought to look no further than the Norwegian frontman.

King is tried and tested in the top-flight and can play pretty much anywhere along the front three.

Moise Kean celebrates scoring for Everton vs AFCB

Everton's first win of the season came against Watford at home - but what was the score?

In his last five seasons at this level, the 28-year-old has scored at least six goals with the most being a whopping 16 during the 16/17 campaign.

Even during their relegation last term, King managed to contribute to ten goals whilst averaging two dribbles, 1.2 key passes and one shot per game, via WhoScored.

It’s no wonder Eddie Howe called him a “complete package” as he’s “outstanding physically, technically and mentally.”

King is the sort of Steven Naismith-like player that the Toffees have lacked in recent seasons – someone who’ll perform regardless of being played out on the left or through the middle.

AND in other news, Brands summer swoop already looking a major eight-figure coup…
