It’s not been an easy season to be a Manchester United fan. Louis van Gaal has cut the figure of an embarrassing uncle at a drunken family wedding for the majority of the campaign, while the quality of the football on the pitch has led to widespread snores in the stands at the aptly named Theatre of Dreams.
There have been brief glimmers of hope – the looming FA Cup Final being one – but the extinguishing of any genuine belief of a top four finish in dramatic fashion at West Ham on Tuesday night has brought supporters back down to earth with a bump. Had they won in east London, three points against a Bournemouth side with beach towels under their arms and flip flops on their feet would have been enough to leapfrog Manchester City for the last spot at Europe’s top table.
Alas, a win could still be enough should Manuel Pellegrini have a nightmare at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium, so Man United cannot afford to ease off the gas, and will have to go all-out at Old Trafford against the Cherries on Sunday.
And that’s great news if you like pizza… Yep, you read that right. Papa John’s are giving 50% off orders for those who back Manchester United to score two or more goals in their last game of the season as part of their ‘Score Twice, Half Price’ offer. All you have to do is sign up for FREE, pick the Red Devils as your team and wait for Anthony Martial and co. to do their thing.
Cliché alert – the form book goes out of the window on such big occasions, so there’s no reason Man United won’t buck their pretty atrocious STHP return of 32% against Bournemouth, and have indeed netted two or more goals in two of their last five games.
