This season's UEFA Champions League group stage has arguably been one of the most riveting for many years, with plenty of goals, shocks and talking moments.

Matchday 6 was no different as teams completed their group fixtures as they aim to qualify for the knock-out stages.

With both Manchester United and Manchester City already qualified, Liverpool and Tottenham still had work to do in difficult fixtures in order to reach the Last 16.

What followed was two night's of high drama, late goals and luckily two more English qualifications.

You know the last 16, but here's what you missed on two nights of European action.

Alisson Save

He may have cost over £60 million, but Alisson Becker is slowly proving to be an absolute bargain for Liverpool.

His 93rd minute world class save to deny Arkadiusz Milik saw his team qualify for the last 16.

Kane's Determination

Harry Kane put in a brilliant performance for his team and although he didn't manage to get on the scoresheet his assist for Lucas Moura was so important.

It was clear to see Kane wasn't just happy with the draw and rather than celebrate with the Brazilian hurried his onfield players back to their half, ready to go again and search for the winner.

Great mentality from the England captain.

Dembele's Run

Like at Wembley, Spurs suffered the worst possible start on Tuesday as Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring for the hosts in the seventh minute.

A goal worthy that would have pundits purring if it had been Lionel Messi, the Frenchman picked the ball off Kyle Walker-Peters on the halfway line and had only one intention.

Sissoko At Right Back

Moussa Sissoko's resurgence back to the Tottenham starting line-up has arguably been one of the biggest surprises of the season.

With Spurs desperate to equalise, Mauricio Pochettino hauled on his attacking players and Sissoko ended up playing right-back at the Nou Camp. Mental.

Napoli Fan Crying

Emotions were running high at Anfield, with Liverpool knowing realistically on a win would see them through, whereas Napoli needed just a score draw.

Despite just needing a goal at any point, moments after Mo Salah opened the scoring, this Napoli fan was caught on camera crying, in the 36th minute!

Maybe he foresaw the result from that moment, but it seems a tad much so early on.

100 Appearances For Busquets

It may have been from the substitute's bench but Barcelona's Sergio Busquets made his 100th appearance in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Spanish midfielder has won three Champions League's in his career, making him one of the most decorated players in the competition.

Casillas Milestone

Another player that reached a significant milestone was Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who picked him his 100th win in the competition.

The former Real Madrid captain becomes only the second player to reach this achievement, Cristiano Ronaldo is the other.

Ederson Save

Just 24 hours after Alisson's incredible stop against Napoli, Man City keeper Ederson produced a sublime piece of goalkeeping of his own.

The Brazilian managed to get his fingertips to Andrej Kramarić's curling effort.

Dries Mertens Comments

Just before kick-off Napoli's Dries Mertens was asked wha the thought of Anfield and what he thought it would be like on big night in the Champions League:

“My strongest memory is that they have a sign saying ‘This is Anfield’ and everyone was talking about it, so I was thinking it’s very big, you know, I came through the tunnel and I asked, ‘Where is the thing?’ and they said you missed it and I hadn’t noticed it. So, in the second half, I’m looking at this small thing and asking, ‘Is this so special?’”

Nick Viergever's Tackle

With Tottenham earning a draw at the Nou Camp, Mauricio Pochettino's men were relying on PSV holding on to their 1-1 scoreline at Inter Milan.

The Dutch side held on strong and thanks to an incredible last ditch challenge from Nick Viergever, Mauro Icardi was denied in the 93rd minute.

Luuk De Jong's Timewasting

As well as Nick Viergever's incredible last ditch tackle, it seems Luuk De Jong was also doing his bit for Tottenham in the dying moments of the game at the San Siro.

The PSV striker went down 'injured' in added on time in a bid to run down the clock.

PSV's Tweet

After the final whistle, PSV's official Twitter account posted this status, which was heavily retweeted by Spurs supporters.

Klopp Don't Care

After Liverpool's brilliant 1-0 win against Napoli, Jurgen Klopp was asked by the media who he would like to face in the Round of 16, he simply replied:

“We wait for the draw, no problem, with that, until 7:55 tonight I was really not sure that we will be in the draw and now we are in it. How could I sit here and ask for any team?

“I don’t care. We are second in the group, we will have an outstanding, strong opponent, that’s it.”

Real Madrid Loss

Like Barcelona, Real Madrid went into Matchday 6 having already qualified and confirmed as group winners, and with CSKA Moscow already out, their game at the Bernabeau was a dead rubber.

What followed was an incredible performance from the Russian side to win 3-0, inflicting Madrid's biggest ever defeat in the competition and their first home defeat in nine years!

AEK Athens Zero Points

Despite a valiant effort, AEK Athens ended their Champions League campaign as the only team without a single point.

Benfica left it until 88th minute to deny the Greek club a draw.

Snowball Fight In Shakhtar

Ukraine in December isn't exactly high on the list of holidaymakers and on Wednesday night we saw why.

Shakhtar Donetsk's important home game against Lyon was played despite heavy snow falling throughout the 90 minutes.

After securing the draw, the French side celebrated with a snowball fight on the side of the pitch.

Sane Spectacular

Once again Manchester City made a slow start to their Champions League fixture and found themselves 1-0 down early on against Hoffenheim.

However a moment of brilliance from Leroy Sane turned the game on it's head, a stunning 30-yard free-kick was Beckham-esque.

Lukaku's Poor Touch

After another poor performance for United, Romelu Lukaku was slated on Twitter for his poor touch.

The Belgian had 11 touches in the whole game and a Belgian TV station put them altogether into one video, not good viewing.

Thomas Muller The Kung-Fu Master

It was an eventful night in Holland as Ajax entertained Bayern Munich, that included six goals and two red cards.

First Maximilian Wober saw red in the 67th minute, then just eight minutes later German international THomas Muller was given a straight red card for this kung-fu kick on Nicolás Tagliafico.

He pleaded his innocence but the evidence was clear.

Van Dijk Sending Off?

After just ten minutes, Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk could have easily seen red for this challenge on Dries Mertens.

The Dutchman got the ball, but his left leg was off the ground throughout the challenge and ended up taking out the Belgian forward.

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti was adamant that the Liverpool man should have seen red:

"I've seen it on the video, I think it was a red card," the Italian said.

"There were a lot of questions about VAR. When VAR comes in to the Champions League, it's too late."

Van Dijk Ban

He may not have received a red card in the match but thanks to his yellow card Van Dijk will miss the first leg of Liverpool's Round of 16 match.

Phil Jones Own Goal

Jose Mourinho's United knew that win could see them win their Group if Juventus failed to win at Young Boys.

But unfortunately for the travelling support in Spain, it was another dull performance from United.

Phil Jones was able to grab some headlines as he became the first United player to score an own goal in a UCL match since 2011, when he scored for Benfica.

That now means he has four goals in the Champions League, two for, two against and incredibly his record in the Premier League is exactly the same, two for, two against.
